Work in Progress Wednesday 168

Hi everyone. I hope you're all doing great. Happy early Halloween. I love love love Halloween and this year we're staying home to watch scary movies and hand out candy. I hope we get lots of kids at the house this year. :)

This has grown a bit since last you saw it. Here in this picture, I've done the body of the shawlette/scarf and am now working on the owl border. Again, this is the Hogwarts Express pattern by Susan Ashcroft. I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering Oatmeal Cookie.

Thanks to those who helped me on Instagram last night in the bead decision. I have these blue beads, and also tan ones and couldn't decide which I liked. Almost everyone picked the blue so that is what I went with. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. Right before I typed this, I finished putting the eyes on all 29 owls.

I'm also still working on my cross stitch Halloween sampler. Unfortunately, I won't be finished by Halloween, but I will keep working on it until I finish it. I love this pattern so so much. This pattern is by the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery.

For those interested, Candy Skein October colorway, Candy Corn, will be gone on Friday! Be sure to grab a skein before it goes away.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.

Work in Progress 167

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going great. Thank you all for the birthday wishes last week. I really appreciate it. We had a great weekend.

This week I feature a new WIP. I didn't want to show you my Candy Corn socks again as I have started the second one, but it looks just like the first of course. When I get a little further I'll share it as a WIP again.

I didn't really plan to start another project, but I was catching up on the Yarniacs podcast. Gayle, one of the hosts, was talking about the Hogwarts Express shawl by Susan Ashcroft. I always tend to keep my computer or phone close when listening to their podcast because they always have great pattern suggestions. As soon as I saw this shawl, I knew I had to make it. I also knew exactly what yarn I'd make it with! I'm using Candy Skein Savory fingering in Oatmeal Cookie. I'm hoping I can crank this shawl out, because we really want to go to the unofficial Harry Potter day at Disneyland on November 3rd and I'd love to wear it. That probably won't happen, but who knows.

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a great rest of your week.

FO Friday 158

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great week. It was a little stressful in my house as my husband started his new job with comes with a pretty long commute. I'm guessing it will get easier each week. I had a great day on Wednesday hanging out with my friend Miki. We had a retail therapy day. We had a nice lunch, went to a yarn store (that was closed, which we didn't realize until we got there), had lunch, went to Sephora AND Ulta and topped it off with Pinkberry. Yum! It was much needed now that Yarnbox and the fiber festival is over.

As far as FO Friday is concerned, I am about 3-5 rows from finishing the first sock, and then it will need to be kitchnered. I tried so hard to finish in time, but it just didn't work out. I'll have it up on Instagram tomorrow once I finish it, and then will share it on the blog next Friday. For those asking, the pattern is Harvest Dew socks and is free on Ravelry.

I hope you all have a great weekend. It's my birthday Sunday so I hope to have a great one as well.

Work in Progress 166

Hi everyone! I apologize for last week. I set WIPW and FO Friday to post while I was on vacation, but it didn't post for some reason. By the time I realized, it was already Friday evening. We had a great time in Las Vegas and the fiber festival went great this past weekend.

On the way to Vegas, my husband was kind enough to drive, so I was able to work on my Candy Corn sock, and also got a little done on Sunday morning after the booth set up but before the festival opened.

I finished the heel turn and picking up the side stitches on the flap for the gusset. I'm only a few rows into decreasing for the gusset, but I love the way it looks so far. I can't wait to finish this pair to wear them! Of course, I have to finish the first sock first.

That's it for me today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and I'll see you Friday!

FO Friday 157

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! The hockey season is NOW officially started for me, as my two favorite teams played their first games and won. WOO HOO! Nice start to a long season. :)

Nothing new finished for me today. I'm still marching forward on my sock. My goal is to finish one before the fiber festival next weekend. I'd love to have it for a sample, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

This weekend is a work weekend for me, but I do get to do one fun thing. One of my best friends, Elizabeth, invited my husband and I sailing with her husband. I can't wait. It should be awesome.

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a great weekend with beautiful weather!

Work in Progress 164

Hi everyone. I hope all is well with you. We're doing pretty good over at my house this week, as my husband has found a new job that he is super excited about. I haven't talked about it, but the studio he worked for closed a few months ago and he's been out of work. In his line of work, that's not unusual, but it will doesn't help matters. In the end it worked out great and I'm so excited for him.

Before I get to WIPW, I have a few things to comment on besides the new job. First, next week I'll be scheduling WIPW and FO Friday (probably) in advance. I'm extremely busy getting ready for the Vista Fiber Fiesta which is October 12-13, and we're taking a few days off to celebrate the new job.

Hockey season is back. For those who have followed me the past few years understand how excited this makes me. Life just doesn't feel right when it isn't hockey season. Now all is perfect again with the start of the NHL season last night and my LA Kings playing their first game tomorrow. I can't wait.

How many of you watched Broadchurch? I don't want to give spoilers, but HOLY SMOKES. We just finished the series and my mind if blown. I suspected who it was for a fleeting moment several episodes back and then completely dismissed it right away. I'm so glad it wasn't in left field, but then again, wow. I also have to admit that I balled at the last episode. Heart wrenching. That has to be one of the best programs on television today and I hope the series 2 is just as good (I also hope that David Tennant is back). I'd love to go back and watch it all again, as now that I think back, I see signs of who the killer was. Crazy.

Okay, now on to WIPW...

I'm making the Harvest Dew socks, a pattern I've had in my queue on Ravelry for AGES. In fact, I think it may be one of the first knitted sock patterns I added to my queue way back when. I've always wanted to make it but never found the proper yarn until now. I'm using my October '13 colorway for Candy Skein, Candy Corn. The pattern is perfect, as the "dew drops" kinda look like candy corn, don't they? I'm so in love with these and they're flying by. I started them Sunday night during World War Z (which we thought was pretty good!) and then knit a little on Monday night at my knitting group and then a few minutes during the hockey game today. I'm about half way (or a little more) don't with the leg.

Here is what Candy Corn looks like in the skein! Awesome, right?

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a great rest of the week!
