FO Friday 34- At last

Happy Friday the 13th everyone. I'm sorry this post wasn't up earlier, but Blogger crashed and burned. Let me tell you, I've been refreshing the "New Post" page for the past 24 hours, hoping it will come back up. Doesn't blogger realize I need to share my FIRST SOCK!? You don't take blogger down in times like this. Geez.

I used two different sized needles so that the ribbing would be tight. I will say, I did have an issue with transferring to the next size up when it was time because I knit SO TIGHT. I love love love my first sock. I can't wait to make the mate. :) I love the look of the heel flap and turn, but hate the toe, as it changed colors on me just as I did the kitchner stitch (which I hate btw).

Okay, enough talking as I want to get this post up ASAP.

Materials Used:

Knit Picks size US 2 needles (for the ribbing)
Knit Picks size US 3 needles (for the rest of the sock)
Knitting Fever Indulgence with Aloe

  2. It looks just as great as I thought it would!! :D Are you excited for its mate?

I had a conversation on Twitter about Blogger last night. I *may* have something to share for FO Friday much later today (make that tonight?) but my fear was that Blogger would be down for a special post tomorrow.
    I hope it's stable!!

  3. You did a fantastic job especially for someone who was winging it.

Can't wait to see the pair together.

  5. I was doing the same thing...plus being at work made it very difficult. I'm glad it came up during my lunch hour plus...I loaded all my photos into Picasa so I didn't have to worry about them.

HOORAY! Love the socks. I'm on the heel of my first pair. Hopefully I will turn it tonight and knit the gusset. Yikes! I actually sound like I know what I'm talking about. tehehe

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Well done on your sock, I am in awe! I aspire to making socks. I was frustrated with Blogger today too, it ate my post from last night!

  7. Leah, thanks! Crossing fingers on the second one.

Contessa, I'll look out for your post! I hope you get it up. Thanks, too. :)

Nicky, thanks! I'm afraid the winging it part wasn't planned and has made me very nervous regarding the second sock. LOL

    Vanessa, thanks!

WonderWhyGal, it's amazing how fast you learn the sock lingo, isn't it? LOL Good luck on the heel turn and gusset! They aren't as scary as they seem. You have a great weekend too

Andria, thank you! You should try it, it's not too hard (says the girl who has only knit one. LOL)

  9. That sock looks briliant Tami, well done! You've inspired me to cast on my first pair of socks. Next week of course, I have a pink baby blanket to contend with for the moment.

  12. Yeah, wasn't that Blogger outage wild? I desperately needed to vent about the BS at the nursing home, too. LOL I lost two posts but thankfully they were backed up on my FB profile notes, so I just copied and pasted them back up. I probably shouldn't have said that, lest the ones whose posts are completely gone come after me with pointy objects.

Great job on your first sock, I'm impressed. It took me a couple years of trying to get my first sock finished. My brain just wouldn't comprehend the heel turn.

To tighten the ribbing portion, I just twist my knit stitch. I knit in the back loop instead of the front. It works well.

  13. Great sock! Very pretty colors, and it looks like it fits great.

I too hate the kitchener stitch. I have tried to do it probably fifty times, and I always wind up pulling it out and just binding off 2-at-a-time. It leaves a ridge, but Kitchener leaves holes!!

  19. I'm not a knitter, but I do crochet. I've bought some sock yarn, and I'm going to try my hand at crocheting a pair of socks. I'll let you know how it goes. Yours looks great, by the way!

  23. Awesome socks! I love the heel flap and the turn on any sock. It's truly my favorite part of knitting a sock...and finishing, of course. Jump right on that second one so you can wear the pair and enjoy them. It will motivate you to make more...Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
